The future of the Leeds Roller Dolls and Aire Force One – who have several members from Morley – hangs in the balance after they have lost their training facilities.

The Futsal training ground they were using has shut down with less than a day’s notice leaving the teams and kit homeless.

Vicki Brown explained: “This came as an utter surprise to us. We knew that the lease for the property had been taken over by another company a few months ago, but we thought that secured the future rather than the opposite.

“We are now urgently trying to find a new training location, for all of our teams. We have had to cancel upcoming games – our future really hangs in the balance.

“We were due to host our second junior league home game next month. Very few of these happen in the UK and our girls are really sad.”

The news comes just as the Roller Dolls were celebrating success in the USA. The team travelled to Colorado to play in the ‘Mayday Mayhem’ tournament and reached the semi-finals after playing higher-ranked teams.

They are now at number 78 in the world-wide roller derby rankings.
