There was a sweet surprise for Mencap Young Ambassador Dominic Ryan.

The birthday boy arrived at the White Rose Shopping Centre to help man the charity’s Creative Spirit Gallery to raise funds and awareness of the charity, but found himself being presented with a chocolate cake to help celebrate his 23rd birthday.

Regional Youth Co-ordinator Yong Waters and other Mencap colleagues presented Dominic with a chocolate cake to help celebrate his birthday and to say a big thank you for all his hard work promoting the charity and the work it

does to support young people with learning disabilities in the Leeds area.

Yong said: “Dom is one of our most enthusiastic and hardworking Young Ambassadors who always gives 100 per cent when he is representing Mencap and explaining to people exactly what we do. As he also loves chocolate cake we thought it would be a nice way to say thank you for working so hard even on his birthday.”

Mencap is the national fundraising partner for Land Securities, who own and manage White Rose Shopping Centre.

The Mencap team will be back at the centre on Thursday October 30 for a day of celebration, entertainment, fun and fund-raising.
