A Tingley couple were among the first to welcome a new addition to their family at Dewsbury and District Hospital as 2014 began.
Elliot Hunter was born at 10.48am on New Year’s Day, weighing 7lb 40z.
Mum Michelle said: “I was due on January 6, but I had to be induced.
“I went in a week early. We were in hospital from Sunday, but they didn’t do it until Tuesday. At that point we thought he probably would be a New Year’s Day baby.
It’s amazing to have him here, but it was special for that reason and not for the day.”
Mrs Hunter and husband Andrew are delighted to have Elliot settled safe and well at home in Thirlmere Drive just a day later.
But nobody was more excited about the new arrival than big brother Freddie, two.
Mrs Hunter, 36, said: “Everybody thought they would be coming to hospital, but we’re already home.
“Freddie was so excited when we got home. He came into hospital every day to see me, but I’m not sure he exactly knew what was going on.
“The first thing he said on Thursday morning was ‘baby, baby!’”
