Children in Tingley now have access to better facilities at a much loved play area thanks to work by local councillors.
Tingley Recreation Ground is well used by local young people and provides an outdoor area where they can play and exercise. Changes made recently to the grounds include moving a multi-sport ball wall and repairing other equipment. These changes are intended to allow children better access and more light, encourage healthy lifestyles and involvement in sports.
Councillors Karen Renshaw, Lisa Mulherin and Jack Dunn have been able to support this with the allocation of section 106 funds.
Coun Renshaw has also worked in partnership with Tingley Tenants and Residents Association to make sure that local information is available by installing a notice board.
She said:“Making these changes has really improved the Tingley Recreation area. By using money for greenspace these repairs will have such an impact on young people’s ability to get out, enjoy the area and get fit.
“We want young people to have access to excellent play spaces. This work takes the Tingley Recreation ground to the next level.”
