Pupils from Gildersome Primary School were treated to an exciting performance by a popular robot.

Titan, who regularly appears at events across the UK, entertained 300 children as part of the launch of a revamped bus service.

Travel firm Arriva hired Titan to promote their MAX 229 route, which links Huddersfield and Leeds via Heckmondwike and the Birstall Retail Park. The destinations will now be served by new buses with on-board Wi-fi and smartphone charging points.

Titan’s surprise visit to Gildersome was followed by an unveiling at the 229’s city centre stop on Albion Street, Leeds.

The new buses also feature stylish interiors, leather seats and head-rests, and journey planning technology.

“The 229 MAX buses offer a great package of benefits for all passengers and will further enhance the journey experience for our customers. With departures up to every 15 minutes, and with some weekly tickets working out at less than £2 per day, this service is a great way to get around,” said Arriva Yorkshire managing director Nigel Featham.
