Morley Town Council’s Planning Committee was expected to object to expansion plans tabled by the White Rose Shopping Centre as the Observer & Advertiser went to press yesterday.

Managers at the retail park, owned by Ravenseft Properties Limited, want to expand it by building extra stores, a restaurant complex and an 11 screen cinema, bringing new jobs to the area.

Members of the planning committee, who met on Tuesday night, have asked for “greater clarity” with regard to the extra car parking required and the position of a supersize IMAX screen which would form part of the cinema complex. Coun Tom Leadley said: “We’re not against the development in principle, they just need to go away and be a bit clearer about the expansion.”
