EAST ARDSLEY climbed up to third place in Division One of the CYL after they collected maximum points from their visit to Buttershaw St Paul's.
With their overseas player Duncan Arnolda on board for the first time this season, the Jeffrey Road men produced a convincing all-round display that suggests they can put together a promotion bid.
Arnolda did not make an auspicious start as he was
trapped lbw without scoring after going in at number four and Ardsley initially looked in trouble at 36-4 after going in first.
But opener Tom Marsden remained and he found a good partner in Ashley Pearson (31) as the pair put on 64 for the fifth wicket.
Marsden was sixth out for a fine 61 with the score at 121, but that was the last wicket Ardsley were to lose as Mark Heald (67 not out) and Ian Glover (27 not out) took them up to a closing 213-6 score which they knew was definitely defendable.
Buttershaw were quickly in trouble in their reply as opening bowlers Arnolda and Christian Musgrave had them 18-5 then 48-7.
Pearson then got in on the wicket taking with 3-16 and although the home side put up some resistance late on they were all out for only 90. Arnolda finished with 4-27 from 11 overs while Musgrave claimed 3-29.
