MORLEY RFC have been drawn against North One opposition in the first round of the Yorkshire Cup.
The Maroons face a trip to east Yorkshire when the famous county competition gets under way next season as they have been drawn away to Beverley.

They won at the ground in a league game last season, but both clubs ended up being relegated from the national league back into North One for the coming campaign.

The first round tie between the sides is due to be played on or before April 7, 2009, although if the clubs agree and can find a suitable date the tie could be played on a free Saturday.

The full first round draw is:

Sheffield Tigers v Middlesbrough/ Wharfedale; Huddersfield v Harrogate; Beverley v Morley; Hull v Leeds Carnegie; Driffield v Doncaster; Halifax v Hull Ionians; Cleckheaton v Rotherham Titans; Pontefract v Bradford & Bingley.

Second round matches are to be played on April 14 and 15 with the semi-finals on April 21 and 22 and the final on April 30.

Morley players, meanwhile, have begun pre-season training at Scatcherd Lane and this will continue throughout the summer for the senior players on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm.

New players are welcome as the club bids to bounce back to the national league at the first attempt and Morley will once again be running first, second and third teams along with the fourths who keep not only the veterans busy on Saturday afternoons, but who can also provide a pathway into senior rugby for youngsters or returning players.
