JERMAINE Beckford held his nerve to score a last minute penalty as Leeds United earned a replay in their FA Cup fourth round tie at White Hart Lane.
United were trailing 2-1 to Tottenham going into the fifth minute of injury time when Beckford took on home defender Michael Dawson inside the box and was brought down.

Beckford picked himself up to hit the ball into the top corner and with only seconds left Leeds had a draw and will now face a replay against Spurs at Elland Road to earn the club even more money in their amazing cup run.

Beckford had earlier scored the Whites' first goal after they had survived an initial bombardment to battle their way into a thrilling full tempo tie.

Tottenham came flying out of the traps and only a string of superb saves from Casper Ankergren kept Leeds in the game. Flying saves denied Jermain Defoe, Niko Kranjcar and Christian Bale in the first 15 minutes and the Danish keeper even kept out a Defoe penalty awarded when Michael Doyle clumsily challenged ex-United junior Danny Rose.

Gradually the Whites came into the contest to carve open some chances of their own with Robert Snodgrass bringing a fine save out of home keeper Gomes and Beckford firing wide when well placed. Beckford was also denied by Gomes after getting in another shot.

But it was Spurs who broke the deadlock three minutes from half-time as Kranjcar's shot was beaten out by Ankergren, but the ball went straight to Peter Crouch, who had a simple task to score from close range.
Beckford almost gave Leeds a flying start to the second half when he latched onto a loose back pass, but was unable to control the ball in attempting to round Gomes.

However, on 52 minutes Leigh Bromby flicked on Robert Snodgrass's corner and in a goalmouth scramble inside the six-yard box Beckford managed to get a crucial touch to force the ball over the line.

Now it was Leeds in the ascendancy as Neil Kilkenny saw a shot from distance saved and Snodgrass hit an effort wide when well positioned.
Tottenham responded by throwing on all three substitutes and it was one of them, Roman Pavlyuchenko, who fired them ahead on 75 minutes with a calm finish after a clever step over and pass from another sub, Wilson Palacios.

Andrew Hughes cleared off the line to keep Leeds in the game and Robbie Keane had a "goal" disallowed for offside as the hosts were unable to finish the tie off.

Leeds looked to be going out, however, until the late penalty decision gave them a hard earned draw.
