THE selling season has begun for Leeds United with one player gone and another on his way out of Elland Road.
Striker Leon Constantine has joined fellow League One side Northampton Town on a free transfer.
The 30-year-old only joined from Port Vale last summer after topping the Valiants scoring charts in 2006/07. But in a season hit by injuries he was unable to command a regular first team squad place and was not one of the 16 players who were on duty at Wembley in the League one play-off final.
First an Achilles injury suffered during pre-season held Constantine back then when he finally broke into the team he suffered a broken arm, ironically sustained after scoring his first league goal for the club against Oldham Athletic on New Year's Day.
To aid his recovery he was sent out on loan to Oldham, but he never played again for Leeds after Gary McAllister preferred other strikers at the club.
The Leeds boss said: "I've spoken with Leon and like a number of players I can't guarantee them regular football.
"Leon is at a stage in his career where he needs to be playing regular football and hopefully this move will enable him to do that."
A second player on the way out is winger Seb Carole who United have allowed to join French outfit Le Havre for a trial period.
Carole joined the club from Brighton in the summer of 2006, but has been in and out of the United side and was disappointed to be left out of the squad at Wembley.
He started his career in France and has had spells with Monaco and Chateauroux.
