EAST ARDSLEY CC are set to come up against a number of familiar faces as they bid to maintain their promotion bid in Division One of the Central Yorkshire League on Saturday.
The first reverse fixture of the season sees Danny McTernan's men up against Wakefield St Michael's and four East Ardsley old boys - Geoff Hunt, Martin Bramley, Simon Sterling and David Battye.
The Wakefield club also has a couple of Ardsley junio
rs - Dom Hunt and Ash Battye - in their ranks and they have played a handful of first team games this year so the number could be as high as six up against their former club.
Ardsley moved up to third place last weekend after thrashing previous third placed team Carlton and they are looking to keep the pressure on top two Altofts and Stanley.
"I'm looking forward to the game and coming up against captain Geoff Hunt," said McTernan.
"He was a first teamer when I first broke into the side and he helped me a lot with my game in training so it will be a good challenge for myself to compete against him. Hopefully I will be shaking his hand at the end of the game with a smile on my face and I will definitely enjoy a beer with him after the game - even more so with another six points behind us!
"Although missing four key players, the club will show its strength in depth with more than capable replacements and the young lads in the team such as Ash Pearson and Adam Hofmann will get their chance to shine."
Birstall are still pushing hard in the Premier Division, but after another six-pointer last weekend they still find themselves three points behind leaders Wrenthorpe.
They face a tricky trip to Methley this Saturday and will be looking for instant revenge after suffering a Jack Hampshire Cup exit at their hands last Sunday.
The Division Two title race remains competitive and leaders Gildersome, second-placed Woodkirk and fourth-placed Birstall A will all be hoping to take advantage of home matches this Saturday against Mirfield PC A, Batley A and Methley A respectively.
