GILDERSOME'S big weekend started well when they defeated Wakefield St Michael's A by 42 runs in CYL Division Two.
The table toppers were not at their best, but managed to set a challenging target when all out for 187 batting first. Sohail Ibrahim top scored with 41, Steven Wales hit 37 and Paul Pearson 26.

They then dismissed their opponents for 145 and the six points gained ensured that they stayed top, two points clear of Woodkirk with Methley A and Birstall A a further three points back.

The wickets were shared around with Shaun Horan taking 3-53, Mel Wood 2-21, Max Elliott 2-5, Simon Hampshaw 1-15, Aidan McCormack 1-27 and Ibrahim 1-9.

GILDERSOME A's impressive recent run came to an end when they were well beaten by Buttershaw St Paul's A in Division Three.

Buttershaw went in first and were dismissed for 196 with Danny Mather taking 3-49, Hanif Mansoor 3-47, Badru Patel 2-44 and Tom Moorby 1-32.

Gildersome's reply never got going and with only three batsmen making double figure scores - Wayne Trueman (14), Mansoor (22) and Mather (12) - they were all out for 84.
