HUNSLET Hawks have continued their signing spree by snapping up centre or second row man Richard Knight from York City Knights.
Knight, 24, is 6ft 4in and weighs 15st 7 lb and is also a useful goalkicker.

He made 18 appearances for York in 2009, scoring six tries.

Hunslet director of rugby Darren Williams said: “Richard completes our squad for 2010. By his own admission
he didn’t have the best of seasons at York and wants to get back to the form he showed at Keighley when he came to prominence.”

Williams added: “He is a very skillful player and will add to the quality goal kickers we have and will be competing with Darren Robinson, Wayne McHugh, Stuart Young, Danny Grimshaw, Nigel Scott and Tom Sheldrake for that honour.”

Knight said: “I am looking to get back to peak form and see this move as the ideal opportunity to do that. I am delighted to join the ambitious Hawks as they look to challenge for promotion.”

Knight will make his Hawks debut in one of the pre-season games – December 27 at home to Keighley (2pm), January 10 at York Reserves (3pm) or January 15 at home to Huddersfield Reserves (7.30pm).

Discussions are on-going with Leeds Rhinos to find a suitable date for the annual Lazenby Cup fixture.
