AFTER going from heroes to zeros in two weeks, Leeds United's players have the chance to make the right impression again as they are back in the FA Cup in the fourth round on Saturday.
Tottenham away does not have the same attraction and anticipation of the previous round's trip to Old Trafford, but it is another opportunity for Simon Grayson's men to show that Leeds are on their way back, especially with a big TV audience expected again.
It is a chance to pull off another giantkilling although the element of surprise has now gone after the win over Manchester United.
The result in any case is not the be all and end all as, while the cup is bringing in valuable finances, it is far more important Leeds fulfil their main aim of getting out of League One. With that in mind it will be interesting to see if the manager opts to rest a few players with a big league test just three days later at Swindon.
Grayson may now wish the Swindon fixture had been played on its original date – when postponed because Leeds had several players on international duty – as whatever the result at White Hart Lane he faces a difficult job getting his players' minds right for the trip to Wiltshire.
Leeds may have lost top spot by the time they kick off at White Hart Lane to in-form Norwich. A 5-0 thrashing of Colchester last weekend saw Norwich close to within three points and with a better goal difference they host Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
With Charlton also winning twice to stretch their unbeaten run to 11 matches United are under pressure and not responding well if the disappointing defeats to Exeter and Carlisle this week are anything to go by.
Leeds can certainly expect a tough test against a Swindon side that has climbed to fifth with games in hand. Danny Wilson has made some good signings to turn things round from last term, among them two from Leeds in midfielder Jonathan Douglas and goalkeeper David Lucas.
United could also line-up against another couple of old boys in Saturday's cup tie, with winger Aaron Lennon one of Tottenham's key playmakers and striker Robbie Keane captaining the team. They also have Jonathan Woodgate in their ranks but the big defender has been on the long term injury list.
