Lloyd leads the way with a half century but it's all in vain

MORLEY put up a fight in Bradford League Division Two at Keighley on Saturday and were unlucky to fall just eight runs short of their target.
The Morley bowling attack worked hard to restrict Morley to 201-7.

Keighley’s Jake Best hit a top score of 66 which included eight fours. There was good support from opener Matt Bottomley 26, Simon Bailey 37no and Simon Reape 29no.

-French did most of the damage for Morley with a haul of 3-41 in 10 overs. Tom Smith also looked sharp as he collect 2-47. There were also wickets for Nathan Bromby 1-74 and Josh Walker 1-30.

Morley’s reply was spearheaded by Danny Lloyd who contributed 51, while Carter and Smith both

made 40, Adam Larkin chipped in with 37 to maintain the challenge which was abruptly ended when Josh Walker was bowled by Simon Bailey off the first ball of the final over with Morley still needing nine runs to win.

Morley are third-bottom just five points behind ninth-placed Idle.

Morley’s second team fell 17 runs short of their target in Second Teams Division One at East Bierley on Saturday.

Bierley were made to struggle early on but the middle order summoned up a decisive recovery with James Petty making 52 which included nine fours and a six which frustrated the Morley bowlers. Chris Brook added 38 and Gareth Davis 21 as East Bierley set a target of 196-9. Graham Roberts was the pick of the Morley bowling attack with a haul of 3-45 from 14 overs.

Eddie Ream opened the bowling and was rewarded with 2-35 while Ash Daly took 2-37 from 11 overs.

Daly was also a key man in Morley’s reply as he made an impressive 46, Liam Fynn showed enthusiasm for the chase as he made 35, Gareth Kitchen added 20, but it wasn’t enough and Morley were bowled out for 179 with 3.2 overs remaining.

Chris Brook and John Glover took four wickets apiece and Craig Bell collected 2-15.

It leaves Morley in sixth place just above East Bierley and they are three points behind Bowling Old Lane in fifth.
