DRIGHLINGTON-BORN referee Martin Atkinson was the man in the middle at Wembley last Saturday as he took charge of the FA Trophy final as Ebbsfleet United beat Torquay United 1-0.
Atkinson, who now lives in Tingley, first qualified as a referee in 1986 and has progressed up the ranks to be one of the country's top officials. Along with being FIFA affiliated, he also regularly takes charge of games in the Premier League.
