Morley Celtic 3
Queens Hotel Stourton 2

MORLEY Celtic welcomed Queens Hotel to a frosty Hembrigg in their latest Leeds Combination League Division Three game.

Morley scored in the first minute as Neil Williamson tapped in from close range after good work from
Sean Deering but were pegged back almost immediately as the towering Stourton striker nodded home from a corner.

The game then turned into a scrappy affair but five minutes before half-time Williamson found space at the byline and his cross was met by the on-rushing James Taylor to give the home side the lead.

In the second half both sides struggled to string passes together but it was the home team who created the better chances.

Carver and substitute Danny Makin both fluffed chances when it seemed easier to score while captain McGowan hit the crossbar with a free-kick.

Celtic finally gave themselves breathing space when Chris Pearson scored at the second attempt, after good work from Makin.

Stourton grabbed a second with a top corner volley, leaving goalkeeper Kaye with no chance.

MoM awards went to McGowan and Thorpe.

Celtic stand third in the table, level on points with Middleton and four behind New Merlins although they have five games in hand on the leaders. Celtic are unbeaten since the opening day and visit Merlins on Sunday. All players are reminded about training on Thursday.
