Premier Division duo crash out of cup

A FINE innings of 88 from Mujahid Hameed proved the cornerstone of East Ardsley's Innings in the Jack Hampshire Cup last Sunday.
He was supported by Tom Marsden (45), Tom Chester (40) and Ashley Pearson (25) as Ardsley reached 233-6 in their 40 overs. Scott Wightman took 2-34 and Richard Foster 2-45.

Foster then top scored as Thornes secured a comfortable six-wicket success
in 34 overs.

Foster hit 10 fours and four sixes in an unbeaten 85 while Jordan Anderson fired 10 fours in his 64 as Thornes eased to 237-4.

Danny McTernan (2-57), Christian Musgrave (1-23) and Ashley Pearson (1-40) were the wicket-takers.

Townville relied on a fine century from Brad Cachopa in their five-wicket victory over Birstall.

Vikram Rathour top scored with 60 in Birstall’s 231 all out while Mick Kaye made 44 and former Townville players Nick Bresnan and Stewart scored 30 and 28 respectively against their old club.

Cachopa then took charge and blasted 127 from 118 balls and shared in a fourth-wicket stand of 121 with Jack Hughes (40) as hosts Townville reached 234-5.

In other matches Carlton beat Batley by eight wickets and Methley overcame Moorlands by a comfortable 89 runs.

Jack Hampshire Cup semi-finals (Sunday July 12): Methley v Townville, Wakefield Thornes v Carlton. Final: Sunday August 16 at Methley CC.
