DESPITE a battling half century from Kashif Rashid, HUNSLET NELSON went down to a four wicket defeat at Carlton in CYL Division One.
Rashid tried his best to hold the Hunslet innings together as he made 53, but only Joe Smith, with 14, gave him double figure score support and they were all out for 107 on a wicket offering assistance to the bowlers.

Carlton started their reply well with a 47-run opening stand, but then lost five wickets for 15 runs to put the result back in the balance. However, Mark Schofield (23 not out) tipped it the home side's way again and they got home in the 41st over.

Wicket takers for Nelson were Matt Smith (3-23), Derrick Hammill (2-28) and Rashid (1-11).

HUNSLET NELSON A also suffered defeat in Division Four after batting first against Northowram Fields A.

With Adnan Taj hitting 43, Irfan Amjad 32 and Brian Calverley 16 not out, Hunslet posted a 124-6 score from their allotted 45 overs.

But Northowram got home to win with five wickets and six overs to spare despite a good spell of bowling from Taj who took 3-23 from 10 overs.
