AN unbeaten half century from Kashif Rashid and a five-wicket haul for Sohail Raz saw HUNSLET NELSON through to their first win of the season after promotion to Division One of the CYL.
Set 173 for victory by opponents Wakefield St Michael’s, Nelson paced their innings perfectly to get home with four wickets and seven balls to spare. Openers Mike Savery (40) and Chris Allan (14) gave them a good start then Rashid and Jeff Nicholson (22) carried on the good work to take the score up to 126-2. A mini collapse followed before Joe Bellwood came up with a crucial 12 runs and Rashid remained out in the middle to steer his side home in the 49th over, finishing not out on 68.

In the Wakefield innings, Hunslet had done well to peg back the home side after they had reached 98-2. Raz was the pick of the bowlers with 5-36 from 15 overs while Rashid claimed 2-36, Glen Thompson 1-31 and Derrick Hammill 1-47.
