MORLEY Cricket Club quickly got over the disappointment of losing their opening game in Division Two of the Bradford League after being given a double boost on Saturday.
Yorkshire batsman Chris Taylor made his long awaited debut as the Scatcherd Lane side took on Spen Victoria and he was joined in the starting XI by new overseas star Mohammad Azarullah who made a highly encouraging first appearance after flying in from Pakistan less than 48 hours before the game.

Morley were inspired and won by 75 runs to kick start their season as they look to put a promotion bid together.

Opening batsman Taylor, who will play for the club when his county duties permit, missed out on a big score on a Scatcherd Lane wicket offering assistance to bowlers as he was dismissed for eight. But 24-year-old pace bowler Azarullah, who has arrived a few weeks into the season after being called up for the Pakistan Academy team, claimed five wickets in his memorable debut and will be looking for many more in the coming months after enjoying a terrific campaign at home, finishing sixth in the averages.

Morley now travel take on Gomersal in their next league game this Saturday (start 1.30pm).
