AFTER a six-week lay-off and a pitch which was far from ideal, both teams appeared a little 'rusty' in the early stages of this Carnegie Challenge Cup First round tie.
The first try came after 20 minutes and was scored by Warriors' winger Chris Hartley who was put through by James Baker to score in the corner.

Three minutes later, centre, Mark Cunningham ran 60 yards to score, beating three men in the process.

Chris Hartley then chipped through for Tony Swift to score between the posts. McClelland completed the conversion.

Before the break, strong runs from Omar Mehdi and Jason Milner punished the defence enabling both Cunningham and Swift to cross for their second tries.

At half-time the Warriors led 24-0

Four minutes after the break Dave Roberts scored and was soon followed by Chris Peach. McClelland added one conversion.

On 58 minutes Mehdi put through Cunningham to complete his hat-trick, with McClelland adding the goal.

Six minutes later, McClelland converted his own try. Another burst from Cunningham and a smart pass led to Swift scoring his third try of the game, it was also converted by McClelland. Prop forward Johnny Dawson was outstanding throughout and created the opportunity for winger Shaun Kehoe to score and complete a comfortable victory for the Warriors.

Warriors coach Dean Sampson said "Although a little slow off the mark, I thought my team was outstanding and the result was never in doubt."

n The Warriors Under-16s had to settle for a 14-14 draw with West Hull, in this top-table clash.

The teams are due to face each other again in the final of the Yorkshire Cup, later in the season.

West Hull eventually broke the deadlock after 28 minutes with a try from Brad Smith, converted by Ryan Wilson.

Just before the break Warriors' loose forward Stevie Ward crossed and converted for the Warriors to level the score.

Four minutes into the second half West Hull's Joe Morley went over but the score was again levelled with an outstanding try from Warriors' winger Danny Cahill.

After 58 minutes Ward scored his second and what appeared to be the match-winning try, for the Warriors. However, West Hull again brought the score level with a try from Alex Starling just before the final whistle.
