Woodkirk gave their promotion hopes a lift last Saturday with a 22-run win at home to Methley A in Central Yorkshire League Division One.
Opener Gary Close hit 29 and Altaf Patel 31 before Steven Dawber fired a fine 54 and Siddik Mulla 37 to see Woodkirk reach 199 all out in 48 overs.

Andy Ward and James Marston both took three wickets.

Richard Smart top scored with 39 at the top
of the Methley A order but fine bowling chipped away to see the visitors dismissed for 167 with 20 balls to spare.

Close (1-28) made the breakthrough to remove Smart while Patrick Hinchcliffe (3-18 in 9.4 overs and four maidens) and Roy Trueman (3-19) impressed, supported by Patel (1-27) and Garry Dawber (2-23).

Woodkirk A lost by 69 runs at Westwood Park A in Division Three.

The hosts reached 254-6 led by Craig Bowes (52no), Rajib Khan (41) , Michael Hemsley (38) and Safdar Khan (33). There were wickets for Richard Dodd (2-56), Chris Taylor (2-33), Dave Pickard (1-32) and Matthew Garner (1-30).

Pickard then hit 29 in reply while Garner fired three sixes in his 30 to give Woodkirk hope but only Brian Fearnley (23) and Dodd (26no) pushed the score along and they closed well short on 185-9. Saleem Bullah took 4-29 and Rajib Khan 3-50.
