Drig win to move second

DRIGHLINGTON Adwalton are up to second place in the Leeds Red Triangle League Hainsworth Premier Division following an impressive 3-0 victory over Old Headingley last Saturday.

Kieran Vaughan led the way with a brace, while Ben Garner was also on target as Drighlington closed to within two points of leaders Seacroft WMC, while they also have two games in hand.

South Leeds Independents were edged out in a nine-goal thriller against Parkfield in the All Sports Awards Division.

South Leeds pushed their visitors all the way and goals from Joe Childerson (two), Mike Swain and Sam Davison threatened to win the game but it was Parkfield who picked up a fifth win of the season as Andy Bellhouse (two), Shane Hanson, Lewis Mawson and Scott Barlow were on target.

Victory saw Parkfield move top of the table on goal difference from Harehills Liberal Club Reserves, who slipped to a surprise 4-0 defeat away to Seacroft WMC Reserves.

Jordan Walker and Peter Metcalfe bagged a brace apiece as mid-table Seacroft sealed the win.

Parkfield are now level on 15 points with Harehills but have two games in hand.

Swarcliffe WMC won their basement battle against Falconers Rest 3-1 thanks to goals from Dean Hatton, Mike Swain and Sam Davison.

Defeat left Falconers three points adrift at the foot of the table.

n Harehills Liberal Club’s first team progressed to the third round of the Metcalfe Sports Challenge Cup thanks to a 4-1 win over Seacroft Green, whose consolation goal came from Luke Hunter.

n Clive Jones and Leon Browne scored consolation goals for CFYDC Change but they suffered a 9-1 defeat at home to Aberford Albion in the West Riding County Trophy third round.
