Hawks stage late fightback in defeat
Battling Hunslet Hawks emerged with plenty of credit from Sunday’s 36-18 defeat at Championship leaders Featherstone Rovers.
The Hawks looked set for hammering when they trailed 26-0 at half-time after playing down the famous Post Office Road slope in the first-half but they staged an excellent fightback.
Tom Bush (pictured) scored their first try in the 63rd minute and they finished the game strongly, scoring three tries in the last four minutes through Liam Hood, Jim Watson and Lee Brickwood, with David March kicking one goal.
Featherstone’s Tommy Saxton grabbed a hat-trick and Tom Hodson, Kyle Briggs, Andy Ellis, Ben Kaye and Greg Worthington were Rovers’ other try scorers.
