In-from Town keep pressure on leaders

MORLEY Town maintained the pressure on Yorkshire Amateur League Division Two leaders Sandal Warriors thanks to a 5-4 victory over Bramley Junior OB at Hembrigg last Saturday.

Town left it late to grab all three points against bottom of the table Bramley, netting the winner five minutes from full-time. Marc Haley, Matthew Ibbotson, Christopher Pearson, Joseph Hemingway and Jonathan Wilmshurst were on target for Town.

n Morley Town Reserves gained their first win of the season in Wakefield and District League Division One, thrashing Weavers Arms 6-1.

Town Reserves played the whole 90 minutes with only nine men but were too strong for Weavers Arms as Grahame Stockdale, Mark Raimond (two), David Neath and Jovan Kioseff (two) were all on target for the visitors.

Daniel Issott scored the consolation goal for the hosts.

n Town have a tricky game at fourth placed Leeds Independent this Saturday, while the reserves host bottom side Woodhouse Hill WMC, both matches kick off at 2pm and players should meet at the Carriers Arms at 12.30pm.

n Morley Cricket & Sports for their West Riding County Sunday Cup third round tie at Ferrybridge Progressive WMC and they suffered a crushing 11-0 defeat.

Sports host Leeds City Rovers in the Leeds Combination League Jubilee Premier this Sunday and players should meet 9.45am at the club.

n Carriers Arms lost their seventh game in the Heavy Woollen Sunday League Championship going down 8-5 to Birstall St Patrick’s despite goals from Sam Parkes, Mark Raimond, David Clarke, Grahame Stockdale and Colin Cooney. They visit Oakwell Motel on Sunday (10.30am) and players should meet at 9.30am.
