Maroons return from break fresh for challenge

MORLEY will be aiming to continue their impressive recent form and pile the pressure on Wheatley Hills when they return to North One East action on Saturday when Morpeth visit Scatcherd Lane (kick off 2.15pm).

The Maroons have won their last six league outings and have closed the gap on second placed Wheatley Hills to just six points.

Morpeth lie mid-table with seven wins and seven defeats and Morley will be looking to complete a league double over their visitors having won 13-0 in the north east earlier in the season.

Morley will hope that the fortnight’s rest will prove enough time for leading points scorer Simon Bradshaw to have recovered from injury and return to the fold.

It will be three weeks since Morley last took to the field in anger by the time they run out against Morpeth but Dave Murray’s men will be aiming to re-kindle the form that served them so well in the run up to Christmas.

Since slipping to a 30-14 derby defeat at Cleckheaton on October 20, Morley have won six league games on the bounce, and overcame Middlesbrough in the Yorkshire Cup.

They will be looking to start 2013 in similar form as they aim to put Wheatley Hills under further pressure.

With 12 league matches remaining, plus a Yorkshire Cup quarter-final away to Cleckheaton, these are exciting times and Morley will be determined to be in the promotion shake up come April.
