Hunslet Hawks’ fans have voted to rename the club Hunslet RLFC.

Fans were given the opportunity to vote on the potential rebrand of the club and 83 per-cent opted for the change in name.

Hawks General Manager Martin Flynn said: “The number of supporters who took the time to vote far exceeded our expectations and underlined the passion our supporters have for this great club.

“The result of the vote has shown that overwhelmingly, our fans, across all generations, wish the club to be called Hunslet RLFC.

“I would like to thank all our supporters for engaging with this process and ultimately playing a part in shaping the club’s future. I look forward to working together with you all to move Hunslet RLFC forward.”

The next stage of the rebranding exercise will be to invite fans to vote on the new club crest. This will take place at the final home game of the 2016 season against Toulouse on Saturday, September 3.

There will be no online vote, so fans will need to attend the game to cast their vote.
