Carriers Arms landlady Diane McKenna is going on the run again to raise money for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal in next month’s Yorkshire Marathon.
To add to her fundraising she is holding a coffee morning at the pub, in Glen Road, on Saturday (September 28) from 10.30am-12.30pm where she will be selling cakes, crafts, Body Shop products and books.
There will also be raffles and a tombola. Diane said: “It was after reading Jane Tomlinson’s two books that I became inspired to run and raise money for charity. I always think of how she made herself do it while poorly if I need motivation.
“Inside I feel that I would never have had the privilege of carrying the Olympic torch last year if I hadn’t read her books so you can imagine it is close to my heart to raise money in aid of this wonderful woman. I met her husband, son, daughters and mother on the torch bearing day and I told them the same.”
