PUBS AND CLUBS

ACKROYD STREET WMC - August 29 - Steve Parkes. There is sequence dancing every Thursday at 7.30 for 8pm. On the second Monday of the month the Syd Osbourne Big Band plays music for dancing.

BRUNTCLIFFE WMC - Bingo is Tuesdays from 9-11pm and Sundays from 1.30-3.30pm.

CHURWELL WMC - Regular events include ladies' night with bingo and a raffle on Wednesday, bingo on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, live music on Saturday night and play your cards right on Sunday night.

DRIGHLINGTON TEMPEST CLUB - August 28 - Cheesy Rider; August 29 - centenary celebration from noon with live music, a children's entertainer, food and refreshments; September 4 - Kat. Weekly events include Monday line dancing from 8pm, Wednesday bingo and quizzes on Thursdays and Sundays.

EAST ARDSLEY GENERAL - August 27 - Dress as your favourite dead celebrity for a fancy dress evening with a disco and live acts; August 28 - family fun day with a barbecue, bouncy castle and tombola from 2pm onwards. Wednesdays from 4pm the Winthorpe Whirlers meet and there is sequence dancing from 8pm. On the third Thursday of every month there is a 1940s themed evening of music and dance. Saturday night is family night with live entertainment, bingo and games. On Sunday there is country and western night with live music.

LEEDS JAZZ CLUB, Armley - August 31 - Maine Street Jazz Band from Newcastle; September 7 - The club will celebrate its tenth birthday with Gentleman Jim McIntosh and the Jazzaholics from London.

MORLEY FOLK CLUB - The club which meets at The Dashers on High Street will return on September 15 with a performance from Beneath The Oak.

MORLEY WORKING MEN'S CLUB - August 25 - Saul, entertainer; September 1 - Melissa, singer.

NEW SCARBOROUGH INN, Tingley - Thursday nights are quiz nights.
