EVENTS

MARCH 10 - Glen Estate Tenants and Residents association annual general meeting, 7.30pm, Eddie LeHuray building, Glen Road.

MARCH 10 - A ladies fashion evening at Howley Hall Golf Club, Scotchman Lane, Morley, at 7pm. The event is in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, tickets £5 including a glass of wine. The show will feature clothes from Ping, Nike, Glenmuir and Green Lamb, as well as fashions from W'Mann of Ossett. For more information ring 01924 350102.

MARCH 11 - Stuart Maconie will be talking about his latest book, Adventures of the High Teas, in Waterstones on Albion Street, Leeds, on Thursday, March 11, at 7pm. Tickets cost £3 redeemable against the purchase of the book on the night. Joe Hill, Stephen King's son will be signing copies of his book, Horns, from 1pm on March 18.

MARCH 13 - St Patrick's Celebrations with the McAlpines Fusileers five-piece Irish band, vocalist Amy Louise and bingo, from 8pm, East and West Ardsley Social Club. Tickets are £5 and can be bought from behind the bar or on the night.

PUBS AND CLUBS

ACKROYD STREET WMC - March 13 - dance and charity night for Candlelighters, entry is £2.50 on the door; March 14 -Lyn George; March 20 - Good Thinking Batman, comedy four-piece band suitable for families so children over five are welcome. Regular events include Sunday bingo, open the box and live entertainment. There is a darts competition on the third Friday of the month and dominos and 'fives and threes' on the first Friday of the month. On the second Monday of the month the Syd Osbourne Big Band plays music for dancing. A room is available for hire – ring the club.

BATLEY CARR SOCIAL CLUB - March 16, 30 and every fortnight - jazz and swing from the 1940s and 50s with Eddie Martell and the Reg Hargreaves Quartet. Starts at 8.10pm and admission costs £2.

BRUNTCLIFFE WMC - Bingo is Tuesdays from 9-11pm and Sundays from 1.30-3.30pm. A free party room can be booked by ringing 0113 2534127.

CHURWELL WMC - Regular events include ladies' night with bingo and a raffle on Wednesday, bingo on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, live music on Saturday night and 'play your cards right' on Sunday night.

COMMERCIAL INN, Churwell - Quiz nights are Wednesdays and Sundays at 9.30pm.

EAST ARDSLEY GENERAL - Wednesdays from 4pm the Winthorpe Whirlers meet and there is sequence dancing from 8pm. On the third Thursday of every month there is a 1940s-themed evening of music and dance. All other Thursdays are bingo evenings from 8pm. Saturday night is family night with live entertainment, bingo and games. On Sunday there is country and western night with live music.

GAS HOUSE TAVERN, Drighlington - Regular events include dominos on Monday, quiz night on Wednesday, open mic on Thursday and Saturday with a free supper on Thursday, live acts on Friday and an open mic with Godwin on Sunday.
