The Morley Academy has welcomed its new chairman of governors who says she is honoured to take up her new role.
Karen Lawson has taken over from former chairman Terry Elliott, who served the school for seven years, and says she has big shoes to fill.
She said: “I am delighted and honoured at becoming chair of the top performing academy in Leeds.
“The governing body works incredibly hard supporting the executive principal and principal and all staff of Morley Academy, who themselves work tirelessly to deliver and outstanding education for the children in Morley.
“I will have to fill big shoes as Terry Elliott, our chairman for the last seven years, has been instrumental in strategically developing the governing body and will be continuing his work in an executive position within the Gorse Academy Trust.
“I know that Terry will support and guide me along with my father, Dennis Fisher, who has just stood down as chairman of Woodkirk Academy.”
