Twenty mile an hour speed limits are set to improve safety benefiting primary school children in Tingley and Thorpe.
The changes include traffic calming measures and come as a result of local campaigning from councillors in the area to improve safety for children and adults.
Coun Neil Dawson (Lab, Morley South) said: “These changes will create safer and better areas, whilst not inconveniencing safe drivers.”
A 20 mph zone will also be introduced around Westerton and Blackgates primary schools in Tingley and Thorpe Primary School.
Coun Jack Dunn (Lab, Ardsley & Robin Hood, Labour) said: “Sticking to under 20 mph around all schools makes sense- but we need to be able to take action when this is not followed.”
“It will encourage more people to walk and cycle and will allow them to enjoy our beautiful ward.”
