CHURWELL Action Group has been very busy over the last few weeks as members take on their latest project.
The group has been repairing and rebuilding a dry stone wall on Smool Lane, have cleared out Woodcross Pond, the beck in Clark Spring Woods, replaced seating in the woodland, undertaking general path repairs and replanted flower barrels on Elland Road.
The group has 12 members who meet for a couple of hours each week and weekends with a regular turnout of five to eight volunteers, but a number have now been allocated individual areas to look after, litter picking, maintaining paths and flower tubs.
The group work alongside Morley in Bloom with support from the local council and police officers, who can often be seen helping out.
A spokesman for the group said: “The team has a full work schedule for the winter and are always looking out for people who can help out either through the week or weekends.
“No skills are required, just willing hands and a good sense of humour.
