Staff at an after school club are celebrating after receiving a glowing report from education inspectors.
Westerton Out of School Club in Tingley was rated as “Outstanding” in its latest report by Ofsted.
The Westerton Primary Academy-based club, which opened in 2008, is run by 4Children and operates before and after school as well as during the school holidays.
Inspectors, who visited the club on April 12, said staff were “extremely skilled” and know the children well, making them able to respond to their individual needs.
The report said: “Children have an extremely positive relationship with all staff.
“Staff know children exceptionally well and possess an in-depth understanding of children’s individual needs.
“This supports children’s emotional well-being very well.
“Staff encourage children to work out solutions to their own problems, and behave in a kind and courteous manner towards each other.”
A new manager took over the club in 2014 and inspectors praised them as an “outstanding role model” for staff.
The report said: “The manager and staff team have created a highly stimulating environment for children which supports children’s learning exceptionally well.
“The manager places a strong emphasis on children’s safety. The manager is passionate and in pursuit of excellence in all areas of her provision.
“She is an outstanding role model for staff, who share her enthusiasm and are highly committed to continuous development.”
