Following backing from the local community, plans for a new Aldi store in Drighlington have been approved by Leeds City Council.

The new Aldi store will be built on the Perkins Industrial site on King Street and will help regenerate an unsightly area of the village.

Mark Taylor, Property Director for Aldi Stores stated that the multi million pound investment would bring 50 jobs for local people and that the company would work with the Council’s Employment and Skills department to ensure that jobs were made available for local people.

As part of the overall plans, the bus stop on King Street will be relocated and a new covered bus shelter is to be provided.

Mark Taylor said that Aldi were delighted with the outcome and are looking forward to bringing a new store to Drighlington.
