A teenager from Morley is set to head off on a worldwide adventure after joining the Royal Navy.
Chelsea Dyson, 19, is currently completing a chef’s course with the force after completing 10 weeks of Navy training on HMS Raleigh in Plymouth.
The gruelling induction saw her acclimatise to life at sea, train on how to cope in a crisis as well as completing a 28km mountain hike in Dartmoor with heavy baggage.
Chelsea said: “Training was hard but it was very rewarding.
“It’s the best thing I’ve ever done!
“I was shattered by the end of the hike but we went for a pub meal afterwards so I think that’s what got everyone through it.”
The former Morley Academy pupil passed out on October 3 and is looking forward to starting work on her first ship next year upon completion of her chef’s training.
She added: “I will definitely miss Morley but I’m really looking forward to travel and seeing the world and going to different places.”
