Cleaning work almost complete at memorial

SCAFFOLDING has been visible around Morley War Memorial in Scatcherd Park as cleaning work continues in preparation of its rededication this month.

The war memorial will be rededicated at a special service on Sunday, June 29 at 3.30pm.

A number of names of Morley soldiers who gave their lives in the First and Second World Wars, who for reasons unknown had been previously missing from the memorial, are due to be added.

Around 10 men are due to be added after their families came forward following an appeal by the Mayor of Morley, Coun Terry Grayshon.

On the day a parade will leave Morley Town Hall at 3.15pm, arriving at the war memorial at 3.30pm.

The event will be preceeded on June 27 by a Veterans' Day reception at Morley Town Hall.
