Community groups based in Lewisham Park Community Centre have backed a proposal to keep the centre running at a meeting last week.
The plans would see groups who use the centre take control of its day to day running by forming a management committee. They would be assisted by a core grant from Leeds City Council to cover the running costs.

The plan is a response to the consultation opened up by the council after it announced that the future of the centre, along with several others across the city, was under review,
Coun Wyn Kidger who attended the meeting, said: “It was essential that we come up with a practical plan to keep the Lewisham Centre open.
“Local community groups do excellent work there and the centre serves one of the most deprived areas across the Greater Morley area.”
