Bus campaigners won a victory with the addition of two new services after years of negotiations.
New services have been confirmed for the Bruntcliffe Road area between Batley Bus Station and Leeds Bus Station, as well as Birstall retail park to the White Rose Shopping Centre.
Coun Judith Elliott said: “We have been working for many years with residents and Metro to try and improve the bus services along Bruntcliffe Road.
“There are many older and disabled residents who live along this corridor who welcome this improved bus service.
“It should also serve the new development on Bruntcliffe Road and help those residents who don’t have access to a car.”
Coun Robert Finnigan, who was part of the team who persuaded Metro to introduce the changes, said: “We are delighted Metro have worked with us to resolve this problem and we are grateful to local residents for their support and their patience over the years.”
The 54 service, run by Firstbus, will operate an hourly service Monday-Friday on the old 213 route running along Bruntcliffe Road towards King George Avenue, which will start on February 21.
And the 214, which will be operated by Arriva, will run Monday-Friday Bruntcliffe road and down Fountain Street.
The full schedule is yet to be confirmed.
