The annual Festival of Remembrance will once again be staged at Morley Town Hall later this month.
This year’s event, which is now in its tenth year, takes place on Friday, November 11 and begins at 7.30pm.
Hundreds are expected to attend the event.
Terry Grayshon, County Chairman for The Soldier’s Sailors Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help in West Yorkshire, said: “This event provides an act of remembrance for the area.
“We will remember those who fell in conflict and in particular the Leeds Pals and the Battle of the Somme.
“We will have representatives from the army and air force present and special monologues will be read out.
“There will be a silence to remember the fallen and the contribution that they gave to us.
“This remembrance event been going 10 years now and it has always been well-received by the community.”
There is no admission charge for the event.
The festival is just one of a number of events in the area.
Churwell War Memorial at Elland Road, Churwell will host a Remembrance service at 9.30am on Sunday, November 13. The Mayor and Mayoress will be present.
Also on November 13, at 10.30am, a parade will take place fromWindsor Court to the War Memorial in Scatcherd Park for a Service of Remembrance at 10.50am. Taking the salute on the Town Hall steps for the returning parade.
Also on Sunday at 2.30pm, there is a service of Remembrance at the Tingley Air Crash site. The Mayor and Mayoress will also be in attendance.
