Music legends Manic Street Preachers are set to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their most successful album with a series of special gigs and will include a date in Leeds next year.

Incredibly it is coming up to 20 years since the Welsh indie rockers released the fantastic Everything Must Go album, which featured favourites like A Design For Life, the Everything Must Go single, Kevin Carter and Australia.

And on the actual 20th anniversary of the original release date - on May 20, 2016 - the Manics will play the album in its entirety at the Leeds First Direct Arena.

The band will play two sets on the night, the album in full followed by rarities and curios, greatest hits and a few brand new songs.

Another top band Editors will join as special guests in what is set to be one of the big music highlights of next year.

After the incredible response to their twelfth studio album ‘Futurology’ in 2014, which came less than a year after the previous album ‘Rewind The Film, the Manic Street Preachers completed an outstandingly creative period with dates playing their third album ‘The Holy Bible’ for its 20th anniversary. The success and outstanding critical and public acclaim for the gigs prompted the band to go out again with ‘Everything Must Go’.

Originally released in spring 1996, ‘Everything Must Go’ was the band’s first massive commercial success. The record was certified triple platinum in the UK and went on to sell over a million copies and bag multiple Brit awards.

Touring the record, the Manics played an early show in the tiny basement bar of the Haçienda to headlining to 20,000 people at Manchester’s Nynex Arena in less than 12 months.

Although some songs from ‘Everything Must Go’ are still cornerstones of Manic Street Preachers gigs, several of the album tracks have not been played live since 1996.

Tickets for the Leeds First Direct Arena gig on May 20 go on sale on from 9.30am on Friday (December 11), priced £35 and £47.50 with details on www.manicstreetpreachers.com
