Churwell residents and commuters could face delays as work begins on a significant section of Elland Road.
Coun Bob Gettings has welcomed news that the section of Churwell Hill is to be resurfaced following years of lobbying for the work to be completed.
The work, from Park Street to below Churwell viaduct, is planned to begin on January 7 and will take several weeks to complete.
Coun Gettings said: “Churwell residents have been on to us for some time to get this section of road resurfaced.
“It has been in a poor state for many years – mainly due to work undertaken by the utility companies.
“The work that needs completing will impact on local residents and motorists but we are working hard to keep this impact to a minimum. This resurfacing will benefit local people along with the many motorists who use this road.”
