A strike has been announced by the Fire Brigades Union that will affect fire services around West Yorkshire this weekend.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue called the strikes “concerning”, while the FBU claimed they were unavoidable.
The union’s Yorkshire membership secretary, Dave Williams, said: “We want the government to come back to the negotiating table.
“We have waited for a long time, and it would appear they are dragging their feet over this.”
He said a skeleton staff would be operating at most stations, but warned they may not all be fully trained firefighters.
WYFRS chief fire officer, Simon Pilling, said: “It is disappointing and concerning that negotiations between government and the FBU have failed to deliver a mutually acceptable resolution to this long running dispute.”
The walkouts will take place on Friday, noon-5pm; Saturday, 2pm-2am and Sunday, 10am-3pm.
