Five people, including two teenagers, are recovering in hospital after a car crash in Tingley last night.

The accident occurred at around 10pm when a black Ford Ka collided with a blue Renault Clio at the junction between Dewsbury Road and Syke Road.

The 18 year-old driver of the Clio and his female passenger were taken to Leeds General Infirmary, as were the three other parties involved.

A police spokesman said that all five had sustained “serious, but not life-threatening injuries”.

The junction was closed after the accident but re-opened shortly after midnight.
