Police have issued a warning after reports of a man visiting addresses in Churwell falsely claiming to be a gasman.
It is understood that the man, believed to be in his 40s, has asked homeowners if he can check their gas pipes as a result of a leak.
Enquiries have been made with the Gas Board, who said that they did not have anyone working in the area at the time of the calls.
A statement on the West Yorkshire Police Facebook page said: “We often get a spate of these as they travel to different areas so please be vigilant.
They often say there has been a gas leak and want to check gas pipes. Do not allow anyone into your home without proper ID, if you are unsure don’t allow entry.”
