Hundreds of people took part in a day of woodland activities organised by volunteers.

Churwell Environmental Volunteers’ woodland event featured various stalls, the newly-extended railway and games.

The event took place at the Field Centre, in Westwood Side, Churwell on Sunday.

Organiser Joanna Coultous said: “I would like to thank the people of Churwell who support our events and I feel that we have a brilliant community spirit.

“Our volunteers worked really hard to put on this event and to help people to make the most of this brilliant facility.

Stalls at the event included books, plants, jam and jewellery.

Cash was donated to the volunteer group by Bi Folding Doors of Morley, to help finish the railway’s extension.

The group is taking part in Yorkshire in Bloom this year.
