A new leader has taken office at the helm of Morley Rotary Club.

Liz Ross succeeded Allan Barstow as president of the volunteer-led club for 2015-16.

Mr Barstow had held the role since 2014 and is the owner of a gardening business.

Mrs Ross works as a surgical chiropodist and volunteers for Samaratins.

She will be succeeded in 2016 by president elect Dennis Fisher, 83.

Assistant secretary John Murphy said: “In the community local and wider afield all three people have a combined rotary service period of over 65 years, whilst at the same time continuing with their business and working lives.”

Mr Fisher used to own the former Candyman in Morley and is a governor at Woodkirk Academy.

The group meets at The Manor Golf Club in Drighlington.
