Memory kept alive

THE memory of a keen local musician will be kept alive at Morley High School with the creation of a trophy in his honour.

Morley Music Society has presented the school with a solid silver trophy to be awarded each year in memory of former Morley Grammar School pupil Brian Robertshaw.

Mr Robertshaw was for many years treasurer of Morley Music Society and a valued singer in the tenor section of the choir.

The award is of particular importance to Mr Robertshaw's family who were keen to see his love of music and his fond regard for his old school recognised.

The solid silver trophy will be awarded each year along with an appropriate voucher to the student who displays the greatest commitment to and enthusiasm for music at Morley High School.

Pictured at the presentation of the trophy to the school were (from left) Ian Russell, a member of staff at Morley High School and committee member of Morley Music Society, headteacher John Townsley, Hugh Smith, President of Morley Music Society, and Sam Keeping, head of Music at the School.
