It was a half term to remember for a group of pupils at Morley Academy as they jetted off to the Big Apple for a business meeting with Google.

Earlier this year, a group of Year 10 pupils, Rachel MacDonald, Dapika Pungi-Rall, Katherine Thompson and Amelia Walker - also known as Team Velocity - presented a business plan of a slow-retracting dog lead to a panel of ‘dragons’ in the final part of a 10 week enterprise project, organised by the University of York.

The team finished first among a competitive group of 15 schools and 29 teams and their prize was an all-expenses paid trip to New York in the five star Grand Hyatt hotel.

The spent their October half-term there to present their idea to Google, who gave them invaluable advice.
